Catholic Ends Mariners Four Game Win Streak

Washington, DC - The USMMA tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision Sunday afternoon at Landmark Conference rival Catholic, snapping the Mariners four game winning streak.  James Hicks (Haddon Heights, NJ) was the closest Mariner to claiming a set, falling 7-4 in a first set tie-breaker at #1 singles.  USMMA was completing back-to-back matches on a road trip after picking up the program's second-ever Landmark Conference win Saturday against Susquehanna.

Derek Acuna (Bainbridge Island, WA) won the most games of all Mariners other than Hicks with a 6-2, 6-2 setback at #6 singles.  Karl Sasse (Frederick MD) and Jack Walsh (Glen Allen, VA) participated in the closest doubles battle, dropping an 8-4 verdict at #2 doubles.

The USMMA tennis team returns to the court at home tomorrow, Tuesday, April 8 for a 4:00 PM Landmark Conference clash versus Drew.
