NEW YORK (Feb. 9, 2019) – Last night, the USMMA men's and women's divers competed at the NYU Invitational in Manhattan. There were no team scores kept at the event, but the Mariners' biggest story of the night was sophomore Calvin Kim (Bellevue, Wash.) hitting his second NCAA mark of the season on the one-meter board.
Kim's second qualifying mark on the board officially books his ticket to the NCAA Diving Regionals, which will take place March 1-2 at MIT in Cambridge, Mass. He joins his teammates, sophomore Gillem McMillan (Knoxville, Tenn.) and senior Thomas Curry (Los Angles, Calif.) on the men's side and senior Kara Korengel (Cincinnati, Ohio) on the women's side in qualifying for regionals.
After his 11 dives (six optional and five voluntary), Kim had a score of 431.05. The NCAA qualifying mark is 425.
