KINGS POINT, N.Y. (June 28, 2018) – On Wednesday, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced the individual Scholar All-America honors for the 2017-18 season. Two members of the USMMA men's swimming & diving team earned Honorable Mention Scholar All-American recognition – juniors Thomas Curry (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Christopher Kahl (Solomons, Md.).
To earn Honorable Mention Scholar All-American accolades, Curry and Kahl garnered individual GPAs of 3.50 or higher while also achieving an NCAA "B-Cut" time standard or competing at a regional or zone qualifying meet.
Curry qualified for and competed in the NCAA Diving Regionals after attaining qualifying marks numerous times throughout the season. Kahl earned a B-Cut at the 2018 Metropolitan Championship Meet when he touched second in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:50.08.
"I am happy for Thomas and Christopher for succeeding both in the pool and in the classroom," commented head coach Sean Tedesco. "This is a well-deserved award."

This is the third-straight season that the program has earned this great distinction. To be selected as a Scholar All-America Team, teams must have achieved a grade point average of 3.00 or higher over the spring semester.
"I am proud of our program for achieving Team Academic All-American honors," added Tedesco. "They worked hard over the course of year to accomplish this goal."
