Sasse And Monahan Sweep Skyline Men’s Swimming Weekly Honors

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Nov. 21, 2016) – USMMA senior Karl Sasse (Frederick, Md.) was selected as the Skyline Conference Male Swimmer of the Week and freshman Nolan Monahan (Stafford, Va.) earned Rookie of the Week accolades, the Skyline announced on Monday.

Sasse earned a first-place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 59.96 while also coming in second place in two events – the 200 breast (2:14.14) and as a member of the 200 medley relay team (1:36.69) – beating out a few Division II swimmers along the way.

In his first career meet, Monahan led the Mariners with three first-place finishes in the 100 freestyle (47.95), the 50 free (21.80) and the 200 free (1:49.11). He finished ahead of a number of Division II athletes that were also competing at the Invite. Monahan also placed second as part of both the Mariners' relay teams – the 200 medley relay (1:36.69) and the 400 freestyle relay (3:17.72).
