Three Mariners Named CSCAA Honorable Mention Scholar All-Americans; Both Squads Recognized As Scholar All-America Teams

NORFOLK, Va. (June 22, 2016) – On Tuesday, the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced that a total of 853 collegiate swimmers and divers around the country earned Scholar All-American Accolades. Of those 853 were three members of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy swimming & diving programs who were Honorable Mention selections – sophomore Adam Fisher (Edgerton, Wisc.) and freshman Christopher Kahl (Solomons, Md.) from the men's team and freshman Tyler Wickesberg (Albuquerque, N.M.) from the women's squad.

To earn Honorable Mention Scholar All-American accolades, Fisher, Kahl and Wickesberg achieved a GPA of 3.50 and achieved a "B" time standard or competed at a regional or zone qualifying meet.

In addition to the individual honors, both the USMMA men's and women's swimming & diving programs were two of 658 programs designated by the CSCAA as Scholar All-America Teams last week. To be selected as a Scholar All-America Team, programs must have achieved a grade point average of 3.00 or higher over the spring semester.

The Mariner men garnered a team GPA of 3.06, while the women's team GPA came in at 3.01 for the term. That complete release can be found by following this link.
