GREENSBORO, N.C. (March 16, 2016) - USMMA senior Gerrit Porter (Houston, Texaxs) will return to Kings Point a two-time All-American! Porter placed 11th in the nation in the one-meter diving competition on Friday, the third day of the NCAA DIII Swim & Dive National Championship Meet in North Carolina.

The one-meter dive preliminaries began at the end of the afternoon session on Friday and Porter scored a 433.75 over the 11 rounds of diving. The score was good enough to advance the senior to the National Consolation Round, which took place shortly after prelims were completed.

In the six-dive National Consolations, Porter closed out his career with a 438.60, which was good for third out of the group of eight divers in the round and placed him 11th in the nation.

The men's swim & dive program finished tied for 34th place at the NCAA Championship Meet. This is the 14th Top-34 finish in 15 years and also the 14th time the squad beat Coast Guard at the event in the past 15 years.

Senior Gerrit Porter (Houston, Texas) is an All-American diver! Porter finished in sixth place in the three-meter diving competition on Wednesday, the first day of the 2016 NCAA DIII National Championship Meet.

He qualified for Wednesday night's finals after placing sixth in the preliminaries earlier in the day with a score of 467.15, guaranteeing him All-American distinction for a top-16 finish in the event.

At the evening session, Porter scored a 483.15, which was good for sixth place. SUNY Geneseo's Randall was the National Champion in the event with a score of 533.75.

Porter will now return to action this Friday, March 18, when he takes part in the one-meter diving competition. A live video feed and live scoring are available by following those links.


Monday, March 16 - Session 1

Porter came in sixth place in the trails of the three-meter diving compeition Wednesday afternoon and has qualified for the finals tonight. He scored a 467.15 in the three-meter dive. Denison's Max Levy led the group of divers with a score of 565.20.

With his qualifications for finals, Porter has earned All-American distinction.

The finals of the three-meter diving event will take place in the evening session, beginning at 6 p.m.
