Tedesco Recognized As ASCA Coach Of Excellence For Fourth-Straight Year

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Feb. 25, 2016) – Last week, the American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) recognized U.S. Merchant Marine Academy 15th-year head swimming & diving coach Sean Tedesco as a Coach of Excellence for the calendar year 2015 for his work with the Mariner swim & dive programs.

Each year, the ASCA honors the coaches who guide a swimmer(s) to a top-eight finish at a USA Swimming national-level meet or a USA collegiate championship. Back at the 2015 NCAA DIII Swimming & Diving National Championship Meet last March, Tedesco helped guide senior Kevin Lindgren (Palm City, Fla.) to three top-eight finishes.

This is the fourth-straight year that Tedesco has earned this prestigious accolade and the sixth time overall. He was named a Coach of Excellence in 2006, 2007 and 2012-15.

In his 15 seasons at Kings Point, Tedesco has led the Mariners to 15-straight conference championships and has had a swimmer and/or diver compete in the NCAA Championship Meet every year. After this weekend, the Mariners will find out if they will be sending a participant to the 2016 National Championship Meet, which is scheduled for March 16-19 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C.
