Merchant Marine Currently Ranked #2 in NCAA Division III by CollegeSwimming.com

CollegeSwimming.com National Rankings

After a dominant performance at the 2013 Landmark Conference Championships the USMMA men's swimming and diving team is now ranked second in the country at the Division III level by CollegeSwimming.com.  The rankings are compiled by taking every team's top-27 swims over a three week period and assigning performance points.

The Mariners weekend at the conference championships were highlighted by numerous pool, meet, conference, and Academy records as well as five NCAA 'A' or 'B' cuts.  Kevin Lindgren (Palm City, FL) was named the league's Swimmer of the Year and got a standing ovation from the entire crowd after his blistering fast swim of 1:46.70 in the 200 backstroke, the second fastest time in the country.

Of the 20 contested events at the Landmark Conference Championships the Mariners captured 12 gold medals as well as ten second-place finishes.  William Porter (Houston, TX) was tabbed as the circuit's Diver of the Year after winning the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions while Jordan Cripe (Monterey, CA) was selected as the conference's Rookie of the Year.  Head Coach Sean Tedesco was also voted as the Landmark Conference Coach of the Year.

Merchant Marine will take its number two billing to the Metropolitan Championships this weekend, hosted by Rutgers University.
