Mariner Swimmers Impressive at Nationals

The Unites States Merchant Marine Academy Swimming team continues to break both personal and Academy records at this week's NCAA Championships held at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) in Indianapolis, Indiana.

USMMA is being represented by Senior Frank Vita and standout freshman and Landmark Conference rookie of the year Kevin Lindgren.  This season, both swimmers earned first team All-Conference honors en route to propelling Kings Point to an unprecedented 11th straight conference championship.

Vita placed 24th in the 200 Individual Medley and shaved one second off of his personal best time.  He followed up with an outstanding performance in the 100 Fly, setting a personal best mark of 49.81, re-breaking his Academy record by .06, and earning All-American honors.

Lindgren had a solid performance in the first 100 of the 200 Individual Medley but tailed off towards the end.  He will compete Friday March 23rd in the 100 Backstroke in the final swim competition of the season for the Mariners.
