Fields and Vita Continue to Swim Well at NCAAs

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – On Thursday morning, junior John Fields (Burke, Va.) of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's swimming and diving team placed 18th overall in the 400-yard IM prelims at the NCAA Division III Championships held at the University of Tennessee. His mark of 4:03.62 was a season best, and will once again have an opportunity to swim in the Final round tonight.


Classmate Frank Vita (Davidsonville, Md.) finished with a lifetime best in the 100 Butterfly event, while also breaking a school record held by All-American Jay Carpenter by .01. The Davidsonville native finished 30th overall with a time of 50.93.
