KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Oct. 2, 2018) – On a night where the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's soccer team had four different goal scorers, the Mariners won their home, Skyline Conference showdown against visiting Mount St. Vincent, 5-1, on Tuesday night at Brooks Stadium. The victory improves the USMMA's record to 6-2-2 (2-1-1 Skyline), while the Dolphins drop to 1-9 (0-4 Skyline) in defeat.

The Mariners wasted little time getting on the board, as sophomore Zach Lysakowski (Reading, Pa.) found the back of the net on a free kick from 25 yards out just under four minutes into action. Senior Wagner Mogga (Kiambu, Kenya) doubled the Merchant Marine lead just over five minutes later in the 10th minute when he took a pass down low from classmate Michael Mischler (Monroe Township, N.J.) and fired a shot through the diving CMSV keeper, junior Padelis Astrinidis.

Sophomore Ryan Haines (Marlton, N.J.) scored the first of his two goals on the night in the 29th minute, assisted by freshman Abram Ehrhorn (Papillion, Neb.). Haines also opened the scoring in the second half in the 46th minute when he connected off a free kick taken by junior Austin Flores (Wichita, Kan.)

Junior Matt McCurnin (Newark, Del.) rounded out the scoring for the Mariners when converted a beautiful header off a feed by freshman Daniel Murphy (Sandwich, Mass.) in the 47th minute.

Junior keeper Matthew Milner (Mount Airy, Md.) recorded two saves in just over 75 minutes of action for his sixth win of the season. The Dolphins were able to find a late tally in the 78th minute by junior Cristian Perez despite the great sprawling effort of freshman back-up Alvaro Herrera Padilla (Panama City, Panama)

For Mount St. Vincent, Astrinidis ended the night with six saves.

Up next, the Mariners will host rival SUNY Maritime this Thursday night, Oct. 4, in Skyline Conference action at Brooks Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7:45 p.m. Live stats and a live video feed of the game, including play-by-play by John Kelly Jr., will be available with links on the USMMA Men's Soccer Schedule Page
