11 Mariner student-athletes make Landmark honor roll

Eleven student-athletes from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy have been named to the 2011 Fall Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll.

Seven soccer players were selected as were four members of the cross country team.

The soccer players honored included sophomore midfielder Kevin Pfeil (3.9 grade-point average), junior goalkeeper Gary Poulin (3.6), junior defender Mark Bloom (3.5), senior defender David Pfeil (3.5), junior goalkeeper Garrett Reinert (3.3), sophomore midfielder Ben Holehouse (3.3) and senior defender Josh Reicks (3.2).

Three men and one woman – all sophomores -- from the cross country team received recognition – Dylan Parrish (3.51), Thomas Routt (3.27), Sam Sanford (3.92) and Patricia Evenson (3.45,.

The Landmark Academic Honor Roll recognizes all fall student athletes of sophomore standing or older with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. The student-athletes must complete the fall season in good standing with their team. All eight Landmark Conference institutions placed at least 11 athletes on the Academic Honor Roll and all six fall Landmark sports were represented on the team.

The Landmark Fall All-Academic Team, which features two male and two female student-athletes from each Landmark institution will be released soon. A Senior Scholar Athlete will be chosen for each Landmark sport.
