PURCHASE, N.Y. – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy surrendered a pair of second-half goals as Manhattanville College recorded a 2-1 non-conference win on Thursday night.
The Mariners (6-3) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute. Midfielder Casey Desiderio sent a shot that was on its way to being stopped by goalkeeper Jason Torres, but was redirected off a Valiant defender and into the net.

Eros Olazabal received a cross from his brother Erick and flicked the ball on a header past goalkeeper Gary Poulin for a 1-1 tie in the 59th minute.
The Valiants took the lead in the 76th as the Olazabal brothers again combined on a goal as Erick passed to Eros, who who chipped a soft line drive over the head of Poulin.
The Valiants needed to play keep away for the remainder of the game as Merchant Marine dialed up the pressure on the Manhattanville defense. The Mariners mustered three shots and two corner kicks in the final 14:25 but could not find the equalizer.
"They're a very talented and dangerous team," Mariners coach Mike Smolens said. "We did a good job of limiting their chances for much of the game. Our defense was solid and Gary Poulin came up big on a few occasions when called upon."
Poulin made three saves, while Torres had two.
Manhattanville outshot the Mariners, 19-10, and finished with more corner kicks, 7-4.
The Mariners continue on the road, visiting Scranton in a Landmark Conference match on Saturday.
