KINGS POINT, N.Y. (July 1, 2019) – Recent USMMA graduate Charley Hughes '19 (Baltimore, Md.) was selected to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association/Warrior and New Balance Division III Scholar All-American Team, the USILA announced late last week.
Hughes becomes the seventh Mariner laxer to earn Scholar All-American honors and the first since Michael Ackerman '13 did so in 2013.
He was a First Team All-Skyline Conference selection after his stellar senior season in 2019. Hughes ranked third in the Skyline and 34th in the nation with a .634 faceoff winning percentage (185/292), while his incredible .814 win percentage (79/97) in conference-only games was best in the league. He also ranked fourth in the Skyline with 4.94 groundballs per game.
At the USMMA Awards Convocation during graduation weekend in mid-June, Hughes was the recipient of the Thomas LeBlanc Award as the outstanding male scholar-athlete in the graduating class.
