KINGS POINT, N.Y. (May 25, 2018) – Senior attackman Nick Treon (Danville, Pa.) of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's lacrosse team has been named to the 2018 Nike/United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) NCAA Division III All-America Team as an Honorable Mention selection, as announced Friday by the USILA.
This marks the sixth time in Academy history that a Mariner has earned USILA All-America Accolades. The last time USMMA had an All-American was back in 2014, when former standout at attack Geoff Harty was also named an honorable mention.
Earlier this month, Treon was named the Skyline Conference Offensive Player of the Year and was selected to the First Team All-Skyline for the second straight season. He is currently the national leader among all Division III players in points per game (6.41) and also ranks in the top-20 in two other categories – seventh in the country with 3.06 assists per game and 16th in the nation with 3.35 goals per game.
Treon finished his career with a USMMA program-best 286 points on 141 goals and 145 assists. During the 2018 season, he put a career-high 109 points (57 goals, 52 assists) and became the ninth player in Academy history to reach the 200 career-point plateau, while also topping the 100 career-goal and 100 career-assist milestones all in the same week.
Throughout the season, Treon was named the Skyline Player of the Week twice, ECAC Offensive Player of the Week once and also landed on the USILA National D3 Team of the Week once. He helped lead Merchant Marine to the best season in program history with a 14-2 overall record, including a 7-0 mark in Skyline Conference action en route to the Skyline Championship and the program's third trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Mariners won their first-ever NCAA Tournament game with a 22-15 victory over Johnson & Wales in the opening round of the national tournament.
