Treon Named Skyline Offensive Player Of The Year, Headlines Seven Mariners Selected To All-Conference Teams

NEW YORK (May 7, 2018) – On Monday, the Skyline Conference announced the postseason awards and All-Conference Teams for the 2018 men's lacrosse season and seven Mariners were honored, including senior Nick Treon (Danville, Pa.), who was selected by the conference head coaches as the Offensive Player of the Year. Treon, along with five other Mariners landed on the First Team All-Skyline, while one other landed on the Second Team.

First Team selections included Treon and senior Pat Coll (Clifton Park, N.Y.) on attack, sophomore Nick Roros (Northport, N.Y.) at midfield, junior Lane Schmidt (North East, Md.) as a short-stick middie, freshman Kyle Buser (Babylon, N.Y.) as a face-off specialist and sophomore Nick Vinberg (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) on defense, while junior Jack Renard (San Clemente, Calif.) was selected to the Second Team at attack.

Throughout the season, Treon was named Skyline Player of the Week twice, ECAC Offensive Player of the Week once and also landed on the USILA National D3 Team of the Week once. In April, he became the USMMA all-time career leader for points. Treon has constantly been ranked in the top-10 in the nation in points (as high as first in the nation a couple straight weeks), goals and assists. He is currently second with 6.46 points per game, 11th with 2.93 assists per game and 12th with 3.53 goals per game. Treon was selected to the First Team All-Skyline after the 2017 season as well.

Coll ranks second on the Mariners with 70 points, with a team-best 55 goals to go along with 15 assists, and was recently named the Most Outstanding Player of the Skyline Tournament. Throughout the season, he earned Skyline Player of the Week twice and landed on the Skyline Weekly Honor Roll once. Coll has constantly been ranked in the top-10 in the nation in goals, and he currently ranks 11th in the category with 3.67 goals per game, while his 4.67 points per game are good for 29th in the nation.

Roros is a two-way middie that plays both offense and defense. He ranks fourth on the Mariners with 35 points on 29 goals and six assists. He's probably the fastest player in the Skyline and the best midfielder between the restraining lines.

Schmidt is a lock-down short stick defensive midfielder for the Mariners. He is an excellent groundball player. He covers some of the best offensive middies with a short stick. Due to injuries, USMMA played with three short-stick defensive middies and led the group of them.

Buser has ranked in the top-three nationally in face-off win percentage and groundballs throughout the entire season. He was a one-time Skyline Player of the Week this season and was also selected to the USILA National D3 Team of the Week once. He currently ranks second in the nation with a .762 face-off win percentage, while his 11.73 groundballs per game are good for third in the nation.

Vinberg is a lock-down defender who leads the Mariners in caused turnovers with 13. He is also tops for groundballs among Mariner defenders and has superb stick-skills in the clearing game.

Renard is ranked third on the Mariners with 67 points on 36 goals and 31 assists. He was the Skyline Player of the Week once this season and also landed on the Skyline Weekly Honor Roll once. Renard currently ranks 21st in the nation with a .486 shot percentage, while his 2.07 assists per game are tied for 33rd in the country.
