  • Six Mariners Selected To Landmark Conference Spring All-Sportsmanship Teams

    Back in May, the Landmark Conference announced the league’s spring season All-Sportsmanship Teams and USMMA had six student-athletes selected to the squads for their displays of sportsmanship throughout the season. The All-Sportsmanship Team includes one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team.
  • Harty Named USILA DIII Honorable Mention All-American

    U.S. Merchant Marine Academy senior Geoff Harty (Chicago, Ill.) has earned Division III Honorable Mention All-America honors after his spectacular senior campaign for the Mariners in 2015. The announcement of the All-America Teams and Honorable Mentions came from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association on Tuesday.

    On Sunday, the USMMA men’s lacrosse team played its final game of the 2015 season at Landmark opponent Washington & Jefferson and defeated the Presidents, 16-3, at Wash & Jeff’s Alexandre Stadium. The Mariners end the year with an even 7-7 record, including a 3-4 mark in league play, while the Presidents fall to 8-8 (1-6 Landmark).
  • Harty Reaches 200-Point Plateau As Mariners Defeat Visiting Mitchell In Home-Finale

    USMMA senior Geoff Harty (Chicago, Ill.) became just the eighth player in USMMA men’s lacrosse history to reach the 200-point plateau in his career, as he scored five fourth quarter goals to reach the milestone, helping to lead the Mariners to an 18-3 victory over Mitchell on Wednesday afternoon in the 2015 home-finale at Brooks Stadium.
  • Men’s Lacrosse Caps Off Senior Day With 7-5 Landmark Win Over Drew

    On Saturday, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men’s lacrosse team paid tribute to its eight graduating seniors with a special Senior Day ceremony before it’s Landmark Conference contest against visiting Drew University. On the field, the Mariners put the cherry on top of the beautiful day at Brooks Stadium with a hard-earned 7-5 victory over the Rangers. USMMA improves to 5-7 overall (2-4 Landmark) with the win, while Drew falls to 2-10 (0-6 Landmark).

The Mariners improve to 2-2 (1-0 Landmark) on the season, while the Gophers fall to 5-3 (0-1 Landmark).

    On Thursday, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy welcomed a special guest, Wounded Warrior Deven Schei, to speak to the Midshipmen during lunch hour at Delano Hall. Schei spoke to the Mids for nearly the entire lunch hour about his experiences in the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Air Assault Division in Afghanistan and received a standing ovation at the conclusion.

    Under 25th-year head coach Tom Gill, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men’s lacrosse team will begin the 2015 campaign this Saturday, Feb. 28, with a home game against arch-rival and first-year NCAA program Coast Guard scheduled for 1 p.m. at Brooks Stadium. During the season-opener, the Mariners will be honoring Wounded Warriors with special pre-game and halftime ceremonies.
