In the latest NCAA Dvision III statistical rankings, USMMA freshman Chris Whitenack (East Meadow, NY) ranks first in the nation in face-off winning percentage. Whitenack has won 80.2 percent of the draws he has taken this season, going 65-of-81 at the face-off "X". The rookie was especially dominant last week, posting a 26-of-28 mark over two games, which translates to a .929 percentage.
Whitenack is 42-of-52 (80.7%) on face-offs in the Mariners three Landmark Conference games this season. He is still slated to square-off with Matt Finor of Scranton, currently ranked fourth in the country, and Matt Hayes of Maritime (NY), currently ranked sixth in the nation. Whitenack has also notched six points in the 2014 campaign on three goals and three assists.
