Kings Point 7th at Liberty League golf qualifier

 

POTSDAM, N.Y. -- The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy placed seventh at the Liberty League golf championship qualifier that was held this past weekend.

 

Five Mariners golfers finished with a total of 783 at the par 72 Potsdam Town and Country Club Golf Course that was completed on Sunday.

 

The best Kings Point finisher was Dominic Tumolo, who took 37th place after shooting an 89 and 94 for a total score of 183 on the par 72 course.

 

He was followed by Nicholas Matheson (96-91 -- 187), David Lew (100-98 -- 198), Zachardy Adema (117-109 – 226) and George Novak (106-122 – 228).

 

Skidmore College (583) captured the team competition while Skidmore's John McCarthy won individual honors by shooting a 141 on the strength of rounds of 74 and 67.

 

Skidmore earned the right to host the Liberty League championship in April. The match-play event will include RPI, Rochester, and Clarkson with the winner claiming the league's automatic NCAA Division III berth.
