Muchnick leaves USMMA

Interim Athletic Director Captain William Fell has announced the resignation of Interim Head Men’s Basketball Coach David Muchnick who has accepted the Head Men’s Basketball Coach position at Maine Maritime Academy. Muchnick, who has been a member of the Kings Point coaching staff since 2010, was the top assistant for the Mariners until this January when he took over the program on an interim basis.

"Dave has been a valuable member of the Men’s Basketball team and the athletics department, he will be missed" said Captain Fell. "Dave has made a great impact on USMMA, the athletics department, and the USMMA basketball program and its midshipmen-athletes. With his enthusiasm, dedication, and commitment I am confident Dave will succeed and do great things at Maine Maritime Academy."

As the Interim Head Coach, Muchnick went 6-6 including a streak at one point winning 6 of 7 games which helped propel USMMA into the Landmark Conference Tournament. In the semifinals the Mariners lost to the University of Scranton, who went on to win the Landmark Conference title. In the four years on staff, Muchnick helped the program to a 52-51 record, including three Landmark Conference semifinal appearances.
