Jones And Sobocinski Land On Final Skyline Men’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll

NEW YORK (Feb. 20, 2017) – The Skyline Conference announced on Monday that USMMA senior Hunter Jones (Goodyear, Ariz.) and freshman Eric Sobocinski (Southampton, N.J.) were both named to the final men's basketball weekly honor roll of the season. The accolades come after the duo's performances in the Mariners' final two games of the 2016-17 season last week.
 
Jones drained a career-high 30 points to lead all players in exciting 91-81 home victory over Mount St. Mary on Tuesday night. He scored the game-tying basket with just four seconds remaining in the second half and then put up 14 points in the five-minute overtime period. The senior also had nine boards and four assists in the game. He then added 10 points, five boards, four assists and four steals in narrow road loss at Purchase on Saturday.
 
Sobocinski shot a perfect 5-for-5 from the field on all three-pointers in the Mariners' overtime win over Mount St. Mary on Tuesday. He drained four three-pointers late in the second half to help the aid the Mariners' comeback. The rookie added two more three-pointers and eight points in the road loss on Saturday at Purchase.

This concluded the Skyline weekly releases for the season and the Mariners had a total of nine honors dished out this year. Senior Matt Miller (Augusta, Ga.) led the way with one Player of the Week distinction and five honor roll nods. Freshman Connor Green (Flower Mound, Texas) earned one Rookie of the Week honor and Jones and Sobocinski ended things this week with their honor roll recognitions.
