NEW YORK (Dec. 20, 2016) – The Skyline Conference announced on Monday that USMMA senior Matt Miller (Augusta, Ga.) and freshman Connor Green (Flower Mound, Texas) were named the league's Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively. The honors come after the duo's performances in the Mariners' two games last week. Additionally, the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) selected Miller as its DII-DIII Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Miller led the squad with 22.0 points per game, while also bringing down 4.5 boards and dishing out 3.0 assists over the two games. He scored 18 points in the Mariners' come-from-behind home Skyline win over Yeshiva on Monday night and then followed that up with a 26-point performance in another comeback victory over Widener in overtime at home on Saturday. Miller shot 16-for-30 (.567) from the field over the two games, including 6-for-13 (.462) from beyond the three-point arc. He currently ranks third in the Skyline Conference in scoring with 18.9 points per game.

Green recorded new career-highs in scoring in back-to-back games, as he netted 15 in Merchant Marine's home victory over Yeshiva on Monday and then scored 18 in the Mariners' overtime win over Widener on Saturday. The rookie shot .625 (15-of-24) from the field.
