Setting the Scene...
The USMMA men's basketball welcomes Landmark Conference rival Juniata to O'Hara Hall Saturday afternoon.  The Mariners most recently fell in a tight 68-65 contest to Moravian on Wednesday night.  Merchant Marine has dropped six of its last seven games while the Eagles have played back-to-back one-possession outings and survived a 60-57 verdict on the road against Goucher last time out.

Series History...
Merchant Marine leads the all-time series against Juniata, 8-3.  The two sides split last season's meetings with each team successfully defending its home court.  In USMMA's win Andrew Williams (Lantana, TX) supplied 12 points and six rebounds off the bench.

Karczewski Paces USMMA...
Senior Zach Karczewski (Austin, TX) posted a double-double with game highs of 19 points and 11 rebounds against Moravian.  The outing was his tenth double-digit scoring game of the year as well as his second double-double.  Karczewski ranks second on the team with 12.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.

Block Party...
Seven different players recorded a block as Merchant Marine added to its Landmark Conference leading total.  The Mariners are averaging 5.9 blocks per game as well as a circuit best 42.3 rebounds per game.  Williams is second in the conference with 1.8 blocks per game in 2013-14.

Foul Trouble...
Six Mariners finished the game against Moravian with four fouls.  USMMA was whistled for 31 fouls compared to just 17 for the visitors.  That difference translated to 30 more free throw attempts for the Greyhounds in a one-possession contest.

Landmark Conference Notebook...
Catholic is the lone unbeaten team remaining in the Landmark Conference at 5-0.  The Cardinals, the defending league champions, are also on a circuit best six-game winning streak.  The standings then become packed together as six teams sit at either 3-2 or 2-3 in conference play.

Scouting the Eagles...
Jeremy Hays anchors the Juniata offense with 17.1 points per game this season.  Lucas Mellott is pulling down 7.3 rebounds per game to go along with 9.4 points.  The Eagles are shooting 46.8 percent from the floor in 2013-14.

Up Next...
USMMA returns to the court Wednesday night to close a three-game home stand against Drew.
