The 2012 campaign will be Jonathan Churchill's first season at the United States Merchant Marine Academy as the Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers Coach.  Churchill spent the previous four seasons coaching linebackers and special teams at Johns Hopkins University, where he helped lead the Blue Jays to a 36-10 overall record during that span.  With Churchill on staff, Johns Hopkins captured a trio of Centennial Conference Championships and earned two NCAA playoff berths as well as two ECAC Bowl appearances.

Prior to signing on at Johns Hopkins, Churchill coached for two years in the Arena Football 2 League and served as a Graduate Assistant at Rowan University from 2005-2007.  At Rowan, he once again contributed to a successful run as the Profs posted a 20-5 record over three seasons as Churchill coached the wide receivers and tight ends.  During his three year stint, Rowan won two Conference Championships and earned two NCAA playoff appearances. 

Churchill was a four-year letter-winner as an offensive lineman at Bucknell University, where he earned his Master's degree in public relations.  At Bucknell, he was named to the All-Patriot League First-Team Academic.  During his senior season he was selected as the team’s most outstanding lineman.  

Churchill currently resides in Oceanside, NY, with his wife Jera Aurand.
