Vitelli Earns NEWMAC Special Teams Player Of The Week Honors

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Nov. 6, 2018) - The NEWMAC Conference announced this past Monday that USMMA junior return specialist Joe Vitelli (Warrington, Pa.) was selected as the league's Special Teams Player of the Week after his efforts in the Mariners' 44-10 road victory at Catholic on Saturday, Nov. 3. This is the third time this season that Vitelli has earned a weekly honor from the conference, as he was also the Special Teams POW on Oct. 9 and the Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 15.

Vitelli returned two kickoffs a total of 29 yards (14.5 yards per return) with a long of 15 yards, while also bringing back two punts a total of 20 yards (10.0 yards per return) with a long of 12 yards. The 12-yard return in the second quarter set up prime field position for the Mariners, who scored just one play later on a 24-yard rush.
