Mariners Selected To Play In ECAC’s Clayton Chapman Bowl Game Friday Night Against Buffalo State

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Nov. 13, 2017) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy football team has been selected by the ECAC to play in the Clayton Chapman Bowl Game this Friday night, Nov. 17, against the Buffalo State Bengals. The matchup will be the first of ECAC's weekend-long ECAC Division III Football Fest (#ECACD3FBFEST) at the University of Delaware. 

Kickoff against the Bengals is slated for 7:30 p.m. at Delaware Stadium on the campus of the University of Delaware. 

The Mariners enter the contest with a 5-4 overall record, including a 4-3 mark in NEWMAC action, while Buffalo State is 6-4 overall and compiled a 3-4 record in Empire 8 matchups. 

This is the Mariners' first appearance in a postseason contest since the 2002 season when they were selected to the ECAC South Atlantic Bowl Game. USMMA has a 4-2 overall record in ECAC bowl games, having played in 1984, 1985, 1992, 1996, 1997 and 2002.
