KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Dec. 20, 2016) – Despite USMMA senior Patrick Keyes (Parsippany, N.J.) leading all players in the game with 10 tackles, Team Stars & Stripes lost to the CONADEIP Mexican All-Stars, 51-26, this past Saturday in the Eighth Annual Tazon de Estrellas in Mexicali, Mexico. The Mariners had three players participate in the senior bowl game – Keyes, Robert Baker (Whitinsville, Mass.) and Parker Johnson (Middletown, Md.).
Keyes recorded seven solo tackles and three assisted tackles over the 60 minutes. One of his tackles went for a loss of two yards. Johnson was a member of the Stars & Stripes offensive line that contributed to the NCAA DIII Senior All-Stars' 309 yards of total offense (215 pass yards and 94 rushing yards). Baker saw time at tight end and helped the offense with blocking and and was targeted a couple of times throughout the contest.

With the victory, the Mexican All-Stars have now tied the overall series in the Tazon de Estrellas at 4-4.
The event was a great experience for Baker, Johnson and Keyes. The Mariner trio was the third class of seniors to represent the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at the international senior game (Matt McDaniels '16 in 2015 and Alex Coviello '13 in 2012).
