KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Sept. 12, 2016) – U.S. Merchant Marine Academy junior quarterback Robert Moore (Pace, Fla.) was named to the Liberty League Football Weekly Honor Roll on Monday afternoon for his performance in the Mariners' 31-27 Secretaries' Cup victory over arch-rival Coast Guard on Saturday.
In his first career game behind center, Moore led the USMMA ground game with 201 rushing yards and was also 3-for-6 in the air for 49 yards with a second-quarter touchdown pass to freshman Luke Jamison (Tequesta, Fla.).
In just one game, Moore has out-rushed nearly every Liberty League rusher that has played in two games so far this season. He ranks second in the conference with 201 rushing yards. Sophomore Wiley Martin (Polo, Mo.) is tied for the league lead with 12.0 points per game and freshman Joseph Vitelli (Warrington, Pa.) is the Liberty's top kick returner with 160 return yards, despite playing in just one game, with an average of 32 yards per return.
