Four Mariners Selected To ABCA/Rawlings All-New York Region Teams

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (May 29, 2019) – The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced the 2019 ABCA/Rawlings Division III All-Region Teams on Tuesday and USMMA boasted four student-athletes over the three teams in the New York Region.

Senior starter Andrew Spinnenweber (Pasadena, Md.) earned First Team accolades, while sophomore first baseman Vincenzo Alteri (Watertown, N.Y.) and senior outfielder Jesse Reinebold (Sagamihara, Japan) were selected to the Second Team and senior pitcher Kyle Cunningham (Panama City Beach, Fla.) landed on the Third Team. This is the third All-Region accolade for the four Mariners, as they were all honored by the ECAC and D3baseball.com late last week.

For Spinnenweber (6-0, 1.31 ERA, 67 Ks, 2 CGs), this is the second straight year he was selected to the ABCA/Rawlings First Team All-New York Region. In addition to this praise, last week he earned First Team All-ECAC and Second Team D3baseball.com All-New York Region honors.

Alteri (.421 AVG, 33 RBIs, 34 Rs, .566 SLG, .466 OBP) and Reinebold (.381 AVG, 33 RBIs, 22 Rs, .465 SLG, .444 OBP) both rank in the top-10 in the Skyline Conference for batting average and RBIs. Alteri is also ranked 33rd in the nation with his .421 batting average. They were both named All-ECAC Honorable Mentions, Reinebold landed on the D3Baseball.com Second Team All-NY Region and Alteri was on the Third Team.

Cunningham (15.0 IP, 12 SVs, 1.20 ERA, 17 Ks) ranks second in the nation with 12 saves. He was a perfect 12-for-12 in save situations this year, and he crushed the old USMMA career saves record of five, as he finished his career was 13. He was an All-ECAC Second Team selection as a third baseman and an All-ECAC Honorable Mention as a pitcher, while also earning Second Team All-NY Region praise from D3baseball.com.
