Mundorf Named Skyline Baseball Rookie Of The Week; Slusarczyk Lands On Weekly Honor Roll

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (April 25, 2017) – On Monday, the Skyline Conference announced that USMMA freshman Matt Mundorf (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) was named the league's Baseball Rookie of the Week. Additionally, senior pitcher Nathan Slusarczyk (Woodbury, N.J.) earned a spot on the weekly honor roll. The accolades come after the duo's performances in the Mariners' 4-3 week last week.

Mundorf led the Mariners with a .467 batting average last week. He went 3-for-4 with a double, RBI and two runs in a road win at Mount St. Mary on Saturday and 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run in the second game victory over Yeshiva on Sunday. Mundorf also led the Mariners with a .556 on-base percentage and ranked second on the team in slugging percentage (.600) over the seven games last week.

Slusarczyk tossed another complete-game shutout – his second in as many starts – this time at Mount St. Mary in an 8-0 road win on Saturday. He allowed just four hits over nine innings of work and struck out seven batters while walking just two. The senior lefty is now tied for the team-high with three victories. This is the third time this season that Slusarczyk has been honored by the Skyline, as he was the Pitcher of the Week on both March 13 and April 17.
