Baseball Splits With St. Joseph’s-L.I. At Home On Saturday

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (April 15, 2017) – The USMMA baseball team split a home Skyline Conference doubleheader with St. Joseph's of Long Island at Lower Roosevelt Field on Saturday afternoon. The Mariners took the first game in walk-off fashion, 1-0, in the bottom of the ninth inning, but the Golden Eagles won the second game 3-2.
 
The Mariners' record moves to 9-15 (6-8 Skyline) with the split, while SJC-LI goes to 17-8 (10-2 Skyline).
 
Freshman Matt Mundorf (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) knocked in the game-winning run in the opener with a single up the middle that plated senior Francis Grzymkowski (Stafford, Va.) in the bottom of the ninth. Senior Nathan Slusarczyk (Woodbury, N.J.) was sharp on the mound for the Mariners to pick up the victory.
