Mariners Win 20, Look Ahead to Conference Playoffs

The United States Merchant Marine Academy baseball team finished their regular season on a four game winning streak with a sweep of Juniata last weekend followed by a tough road win at St. Joseph's earlier this week; marking only the second time in Academy history Kings Point has reached the 20 win plateau.

The Mariners' stellar 12-2 home record helped power them to the Landmark Conference playoffs.  Currently sitting in second place, they await the results of this weekend's conference games to see where they will finish.  It's likely Kings Point will be taking on Catholic in the first round.  However, if Scranton and Drew can win two games apiece against Catholic and Moravian respectively, the Mariner's would finish in the top seed, hosting this year's Landmark Conference playoffs.

Head Coach Mike Notebaert praised his team for battling all season after being ranked ranked fifth in the preseason polls.  "The players have done a great job on making the best of a short roster.  Lots of guys have excelled at multiple positions and we hope to do the best we can heading into the playoffs."
