Mariners Fall to College of Staten Island

KINGS POINT, N.Y. – The United States Merchant Marine Academy was unable to overcome three three-run innings from the College of Staten Island offense, as the Mariners fell to the Dolphins, 9-3 on Thursday. The Mariners fall to 16-12 overall and 9-6 in Landmark Conference play while the Dolphins improve to 17-14 on the season.

The Mariners got in their own way on Thursday, committing four errors that led to four unearned runs in the contest. Sophomore Danny Collins took the loss for the Mariners, allowing nine runs, five of them earned on 13 hits in five and a third innings. Senior Casey Mulligan earned the win for the Dolphins, surrendering two runs on four hits over six innings of work.

Senior Andy Martin was 4-5 with two RBI's and a run scored. Senior John Hubach also found success at the plate, going 2-4 with a run scored on the day.
