KINGS POINT, N.Y. - Michael Budesa of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy pistol team received All-American honors. He was named Second Team Free Pistol as well as the Second Team Air Pistol. He was the only Mariners this season to receive the All-American honor. Joshua Cox was the last Mariner to be named an All-American in 2007.
The United States Merchant Marine Academy pistol team placed fifth out of nine competing teams at the National Rifle Association Collegiate Championships this past week in Fort Benning, Ga. The team placed fifth in the free pistol, eighth in standard pistol and fifth in air pistol. For the third and final time in as many outings, the Mariners finished ahead of Coast Guard in the team standings and swept the Bears in all nine events.
Fort Benning, GA - The results are in from last weekend's National Rifle Association Collegiate Pistol Championships, which placed the United States Merchant Marine Academy Pistol team seventh overall with an aggregate of 6,037 points.
West Point, NY - With an aggregate of 6026 points, the United States Merchant Marine Academy pistol team placed second over the weekend at Sectionals hosted by Army. The Mariners placed second and defeated rival U.S. Coast Guard Academy in the process by 24 points.
