KINGS POINT N.Y. (April 1, 2026) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's lacrosse team secured its third win in five days with a 17-5 triumph over Skyline Conference foe St. Joseph's-Long Island on Wednesday evening at Brooks Stadium. The victory improves the Mariners' record to 5-3 overall (3-0 Skyline), while the Golden Eagles dropped to 3-7 (3-1 Skyline).

Grace Picozzi (Collegeville, Pa.) delivered a dominant performance with a game-high eight points on a career-best six goals to go along with two assists, while sophomore

Amber Fields (St. Augustine, Fla.) also found the back of the net as eight different Mariners found the scoring column.
Wysong controlled the midfield with a team-high six draw controls while also causing a career-best six turnovers and collecting six ground balls. Picozzi added two draw controls, two caused turnovers, and four ground balls, while Ripley secured six draw controls of her own. Defensively, senior
Nicole Nagengast (Seaford, N.Y.) caused two turnovers and picked up a pair of ground balls. In goal, senior
Karianna Eagle (Little Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) turned aside eight shots to anchor the Mariners and also tied Wysong for the game-high with six ground balls.
USMMA wasted no time setting the tone, scoring three times in the opening four minutes and building an early cushion. After St. Joseph's briefly cut into the deficit, the Mariners responded with a sustained run that included goals from Picozzi, Litz, and Wysong to take an 8-1 lead after the first quarter.
The Mariners maintained control in the second, adding four more goals to extend the margin to 12-4 at halftime. St. Joseph's found the net once in the third, but USMMA answered with back-to-back tallies from Picozzi to keep the game firmly in hand. The Mariners closed the night with three additional goals in the fourth, all coming from Picozzi, to cap the 17-5 victory.
USMMA held advantages in shots (31-17), shots on goal (31-13), ground balls (30-15), and caused turnovers (14-6), highlighting a strong all-around effort on both ends of the field, while St. Joseph's-Long Island edged the Mariners in draw controls (13-11). The Mariners also converted 14-of-21 clearing attempts compared to 10-of-17 for the Golden Eagles.
St. Joseph's-Long Island was paced by Taylor Metzler and Sabrina Doyle, who each scored two goals, while Gianna Darienzo added one. Julia Stolba recorded a game-high seven draw controls and Kaitlyn Ippolito picked up a team-best four ground balls. In goal, Maggie Harding made 14 saves for the Golden Eagles.
The Mariners have the holiday weekend off and will continue conference play on Tuesday night, April 7, when they host Purchase at 7 p.m. at Brooks Stadium.
