Six Mariners Named To Landmark Spring All-Sportsmanship Teams

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (May 23, 2016) – Early last week, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy had six student-athletes named to the Landmark Conference Spring All-Sportsmanship Teams – one from each of the spring teams at the Academy.

The All-Sportsmanship Team recognizes student-athletes who epitomize the ideals of sportsmanship. The student-athletes selected demonstrate fair play, graciousness in victory and respectfulness in defeat. They are ambassadors for the team, both on and off the field, and galvanize their teammates toward their goals. These student-athletes exhibit respect for themselves, teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, spectators, and the greater campus community.

Senior Brad Suciu (Zanesville, Ohio) represented the baseball team on the All-Sportsmanship Team, while freshman Luke Theriault (Southbury, Conn.) was selected for men's outdoor track & field. Freshman Monica Keeley (West Hartford, Conn.) was honored for women's outdoor track & field and junior Jordan Kendall (Winter Haven, Fla.) was men's tennis' selection. Senior Rob Tirrito (Centerport, N.Y.) earned the accolade for men's lacrosse, while classmate Breanna Linsley (Henderson, Nev.) represented the women's lacrosse program.
